Rant: I don't gamble
Wednesday, February 13, 2013
Well, technically I don't like to. I try my best to avoid gambling. But as it's the Chinese New Year season, avoiding them becomes a hassle.
While I was hanging out with my friend yesterday, we came up with a quote.
"You need luck to win, but you need skill to not lose."
Which is why I abhor gambling. You're betting on probability. But technically, everything is simply a probability. According to quantum mechanics, you do not exist in a single spot, the probability of you existing in this sport is simply higher than the rest. When you look at how nothing is certain, life seems like a gamble.
I have to admit that I am intrigued by the idea of earning money based on risk and probability. It's a bad idea, but it's interesting to say the least.
Well, if there comes a day when I'm incredibly proficient at math and probability, you can bet your ass I'm going to make a career out of it.
