After 4 months of grueling training, I have finally graduated from BMT.
Alright because there's really just too many things that has happened over the past few weeks so I'm going to consolidate everything in kind of a half-assed manner. But yeah, there's still the stupid field camp to write about. But anyway, first and foremost, I have finally left that island!
The rest of the pictures are already on FB so... yeah can't be bothered to post them all. But my bro really did take quite a few good shots, not bad.
So in the previous post I wrote about signing on Army.
Well, that didn't happen.
To more be precise, I was rejected for that vocation. You must think that the army must be crazy for turning me down, and yeah they are; but there are a ton of reasons why it didn't go through. The thing is that this was always a win-win situation for me. It doesn't matter if I didn't enter because it just means that I will only have 2 years to serve instead of 5.
Oh, yeah by the way I got posted as an Auto Tech. Which means that I will be repairing vehicles. It's... rather interesting to me. I have always been interested in vehicles and this is just a chance for me to actually get my hands on them.
Well, it's actually really lucky that I got this. I don't think that I will have to run about; I think. Either way, seems like the next 2 years of my life has been settled, there's not much to say about it until I go next Monday.
So here's a bunch of stuffs that I have been holding off update on.
I changed my phone couple weeks ago to Sony Xperia V.
It's a surprisingly good phone. $0 on contract.
It's IP 57 certified so it's dust and water resistant (up to 1m for 30mins). Haven't really experienced any lags on it thus far. Currently running Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 on it. Yes, I run custom rom whenever I get my phone because I cannot stand the stock interface and whatever "features" that manufacturers like to put on the phone.
Many people have asked me about what I am running. For the most part, you can get the same look/experience just by getting Nova Launcher and some icon set of your liking. I have the paid version cause there was an offer some time back and I bought it. For the others... well, you really have to install some kind of custom rom that allows you to edit the core system files and use something like Xposed Framework.
All these said, I'm going to change my phone again soon. Ah, it's a pain to explain why I can change but I can. I'm waiting for the not yet released Nexus 5 before making any rash decisions. But at the moment I'm leaning towards Sony Xperia Z1. That's one sexy phone man.
My desktop. I have recently pimped it with a Graphics Card. Yeah, you heard me right. My desktop didn't have one because I was stopping myself from playing too many games on it. But well... I suddenly felt like playing back again. So I dropped a ton of cash on the upgrade.
MSI GeForce GTX 760 Hawk Edition
The card alone costs around ~SGD$440. I also upgrade my com with an extra 8GB of RAM bringing it to a total of 16GB. I can now host VMs with 4GB of RAM and man that feels so good. Got myself an XBOX 360 controller as well, for racing games and sort.
Anyway, if you're thinking of getting GPU, don't get it now. The drivers for the 700 series is crap. Some of my games will crash midway and it's pissing the fuck outta me. It doesn't affect your daily usage but the whole point of this is to play games, so until the problem gets fixed I can't really recommend it to anyone.
I'm tearing a hole through my pocket with that kind of spending, and partly because I have been playing pool rather often. Thankfully I have been getting better at it but still, it's the kind of entertainment budget that I always overshoot.
I had the week off, so I do have quite some time on my hands even after hanging out with all my mates. I have no idea why I didn't have the mood to write this post until right I'm supposed to go out so if this post seems rushed, it is. My fingers are just trying to keep up with any random thoughts that is coming out from my head.
Ah.. I really should start working on the other post, and the last video from my phuket trip. Meh, I'll do it once I get the mood. In any case, next Monday shall be the slap that will bring me back to reality, away from this holiday heaven that I'm in. Hopefully I will learn not to hate my job and get through NS with minimal angst.
Ah... that's all for now. Oh on a random note, I finally figured out how to turn on my computer using my phone.
